My name is Zakary Nicholls. I'm a private educator based in Newcastle, Australia, and I am currently a graduate student completing a masters degree in science (astrophysics) from the school of science within the faculty of health, engineering and sciences at the University of Southern Queensland.

I received my bachelors degree in commerce (economics) (with additional study areas in finance and mathematics) from the AACSB accredited Newcastle business school within the faculty of business and law at the University of Newcastle, and afterwards received a diploma in science (mathematics) and graduate certificate in mathematics (quantitative mathematics) from the school of computing and mathematics within the faculty of business, justice and behavioral sciences at Charles Sturt University. I also hold a range of vocational qualifications in business and education. My areas of personal academic interest are mathematical modelling (including applications of differential equations in model construction), financial economics (orthodox and heterodox microeconomic modelling including applications to financial and consumer markets), and other applications of mathematical modelling (including physics and engineering).

I am also a very popular private educator, over the course of the last decade I have tutored over four hundred individual students in a range of subjects at the primary, secondary, vocational, and undergraduate level (in courses including: secondary business, secondary/undergraduate economics, secondary/undergraduate engineering, undergraduate finance, primary/secondary/vocational/undergraduate mathematics, and secondary physics).

My lessons are focused on learning and understanding of core concepts within each subject, this structure of lesson is best suited for students who are genuinely struggling with the content. My goal is to ensure that every student I teach can build a good understanding of the fundamentals of the subject in order to learn proper academic work ethic, build self confidence, improve grades, and to develop career enhancing skills and abilities.

One such student was a high performing HSC student, she was scoring about 70-80% in all of her HSC subject (with Advanced Mathematics being the exception, where her early year 11 average in math was about 40%, as with many students English was her strength and math was her weakness). I taught her for 2 years up until the HSC exam, she received a final mark of 79% for Advanced Mathematics. She was accepted into her first university choice a Bachelor of Speech Pathology at Newcastle. One other student was a young man interested in getting an electrical or civil trade, he received a year 7 final mark in mathematics of around 30%. After one year of tutoring his performance had improved substantially, he received around 50% at the end of year 8. I continued to tutor him until his final exams in year 10, he continued to perform well and he received a final mark in Mathematics 5.2 of about 65% (which was one of the highest marks in his class). At the end of year 10, he had applied for both an electrical trade and a civil trade and was offered both.

The cost is $320/complete one-hour (eight one-hour lesson, one each week at the dedicated time) term based lessons. I provide all resources required for lessons, including textbook materials, weekly homework with solutions, and lessons notes. I use a wide mix of professional resources (including primary/secondary school approved textbook).
