I'm an experienced university lecturer, trainer and tutor, and I'm available to help students from year 3 - 9 with any kind of maths work. I have degrees in science and engineering with first class honours, as well as years of experience in getting the best out of children of all ages in Australia and overseas. My ATAR was 98.75, and my university course average across all 50 units I studied was 89.3%. I'm passionate about helping school kids to succeed, and I make every session supportive, engaging and fun so your child gets the very most out of the tutoring experience. I love, and live for, those moments where they have a breakthrough and their whole face lights up because they finally "get it" - I never get tired of seeing it! I focus not just on the mechanics of improving maths knowledge and skills, but also on the psychological side of academic success. As a result, your child will finish each session with more confidence and a stronger belief in themselves, and they'll come to enjoy and look forward to maths work rather than finding it daunting or overwhelming. As part of my service, I also chat with you after each session about your child's progress, and advise on things you and they can do between sessions to maximise the impact and keep the momentum going. If you're not happy, you don't have to pay me a cent. ONLINE TUTORING APPROACH I started delivering online tutoring sessions during the early stages of COVID-19. This worked really well for everyone, and it also turned out to be really effective in getting students to focus and articulate their understanding. As a result, this is the approach I use for all of my tutoring sessions now. It also means I can offer online maths tutoring to students throughout Perth and the rest of Australia. I currently do video tutoring via Skype, WhatsApp, Viber and Zoom, and I’m happy to add other platforms if you prefer. I have a professional setup with a tripod and whiteboard that makes every session clear and effective. That way nothing is lost by having the session online rather than in person. AJ is not only a tutor but has become a fantastic mentor for our child. Our child had great anxiety towards testing and AJ has been teaching him coping mechanisms to better handle the stress.
