Hello! My name is Claudia, and I have a Master’s degree of Writing, Editing and Publishing from The University of Queensland (in which I received the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence). I am 27 years old, and have been tutoring primary, high school and university students for over 9 years. Alongside my online tutoring business (ACCADEMIA), I work as a professional editor (having my edited work published in print and online), and will be commencing my PhD over the next year.
I tutor subjects within both the Australian Curriculum and International Baccalaureate across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, and thoroughly enjoy working with each of my students. My teaching specialises in the humanities (English, History, Literature, Religion, Philosophy, etc.), however, as a professionally trained editor, I also offer proofreading, editing and drafting assistance across all subject areas (outside of education and assessment, I have edited chapbooks, anthologies, postgraduate dissertations, fiction and non-fiction manuscripts, and various shorter works for an array of clients and publishing presses).
I am a very motivated learner and I love to teach. I employ a wide range of studying methods and techniques to suit each individual learning style. I have the privilege to be familiar with current teaching and textbook content used within the curriculum, while also designing my own activities and exercises for my students to complete.
I have worked with students from Brisbane Girls Grammar, Brisbane Boys Grammar, All Hallows, Somerville House, Brisbane Boys College, Ambrose Treacy College, Stuartholme, St Peter’s Lutheran College, St Rita’s College, Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics & Technology, St Joseph’s (Gregory Terrace), Indooroopilly State High School, Toowoomba Grammar, Ipswich Grammar, Redeemer Lutheran School, Brisbane State High School, Kenmore State High School, Lourdes Hill, Padua College, Anglican Church Grammar School, Ferny Grove State High School, and a few schools in central Queensland.
I am inclusive of all identities, and really enjoy working with children and teenagers; I am friendly, personable and can establish rapport with all personality styles quickly and easily. My family work in universities and high schools, so education was a very important part of my upbringing.
I tutor all of my students online via Zoom, and I also offer editing services via email. I often have limited availability, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to secure a time. All Zoom sessions (60, 90 and 120 minutes+) are reserved in advance through my website booking system via a private link (where Afterpay is available).
