About

Hi! I am Cedric, a current university student graduated out of North Sydney Boys High School in 2019 as a HSC All-Rounder and Top Achiever (2017) with an ATAR of 99.60, studying Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) / Bachelor of Law at the University of Sydney.

I first studied two units of Information Processes and Technology (accelerated) in Year 10, ranking first internally and experiencing an unchanged syllabus. I achieved:

IPT - 97/100 - State Rank 6th

I then completed my HSC in Year 12 with the following subjects and their respective marks:

Mathematics Extension 1 - 97/100
Mathematics Extension 2 - 97/100
Chemistry - 95/100
Legal Studies - 95/100
English Advanced - 91/100

I also completed the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) in 2019, achieving a score of 3020/3600, placing in the 97th percentile.

As a tutor, I have had five years of experience, tutoring students ranging from primary school to high school, both in private tutoring and group tutoring. Having worked in various tutoring centres before, I also understand the concerns of parents and needs of students when it comes to the method of tutoring to best suit the student. Therefore, a paramount consideration of mine is to personalise my teaching specific to each student, so that each student is able to study and learn more effectively.

As the first cohort to experience the new syllabus in the HSC, tips and tricks from tutors like us are invaluable. The arduous memorisation of English essays or content of the sciences has been discouraged, and rather a focus to grasp the fundamental understanding of each subject to enable students to truly realise why or how something is correct, has been the purpose of the new syllabus. As such, our techniques and methods of both studying and teaching are tailored to the student's understanding (PROCESS) to maximise their results, as opposed to the traditional focus on results only (OUTCOME), which is superficial understanding. This becomes a much more effective method of learning, which maximises the likelihood that students will be able to, without memorisation, achieve a higher score based on their own knowledge. Not only this, these techniques will carry onto university, where the learning will become easier in comparison to the memorisation technique, which could be severely undermined.

Students should learn to use all available resources to maximise their learning. A key tip that I would give all students would be to use the syllabus irrespective of whatever study method you have. Whether you study ahead of the program to have more time to better understand the information, or you take longer to completely absorb the content, the syllabus will give students clues to some degree of what the content of assessment tasks will contain. Having a solid understanding of the syllabus will allow students to realise which dot points specific questions are addressing. Combining this with each student's unique study methods will enable them to thrive to reach their highest potential.

I currently offer tutoring for IPT, all Mathematics (Year 7-12), Chemistry, Legal Studies and UCAT. My hourly rates will be $50 p/h, however this price will be negotiable depending on circumstances. This cost covers the tutoring lesson, homework, as well as exams.

My current time availabilities are yet to be confirmed as a result of the university timetable not yet being released, as well as my current jobs as a tutor in other tutoring centres. This will be updated as soon as the times are confirmed.

Feel free to message me if you have further questions, queries or concerns, or text 0470 309 591, leaving your name, and your question. I will reply ASAP!

Best of luck in your studies!
