Hi - I"m Noah, a current Bachelor of Computer Science student at The University of New South Wales, having graduated from The Scots College in 2021 with an ATAR of 99.55.
During high school, I never dreamt that I would get an ATAR this high.
I was a slightly above-average student for most of high school - but not enough to carry my ATAR higher to where I wanted. I only ever excelled in a couple of subjects here and there, but those skills never seemed to be able to transfer over to other subjects, and I just began to accept that I was always going to be bad at certain subjects.
However, going into year 12, I began to understand the HSC is a marathon where doing good in all subjects with a strategic, syllabus-based response was the best way to yield results. With my 3+ years of experience in tutoring, I am confident that I know the strategies and methods to help students achieve this, helping reframe the HSC as something much more holistic than repetitive, rote learning in order to get the results that they want. I"ve also had experience teaching my own cohort at The Scots College in English during the COVID lockdown, and I know what markers are looking for to give students that unique edge.
My teaching is extremely personalised and flexible depending on the student. I am a firm believer that the best teaching programs are not pre-planned, but instead developed with the student. Therefore, the content and means of teaching that I carry out will be heavily dependent on your input and the weaknesses that you feel that you have within whatever subject. However, if you put in conscious effort into trying to get better, I can promise that I will try my hardest to guarantee results.
The main service I am offering is 1-on-1 online English tutoring for both Advanced and Extension I. I have taught many students and colleagues from a variety of selective and comprehensive schools including but not limited to The Scots College, Baulkham Hills, Normanhurst Boys, and Strathfield Girls, producing numerous band 6 marks and seeing substantial improvement. This will include unlimited and responsive essay/narrative feedback, textual analysis and idea brainstorming in order to give students the maximum overall understanding of their texts such that they have readily adaptable and usable pieces for the HSC.
I also offer tutoring for Music - I believe that musical analysis and essay-writing is simultaneously a difficult task to grasp individually, but easy to do with the correct guidance. The Music HSC requires a degree of simplicity and conciseness in responses, which I can help achieve given the student is eager and putting in effort.
