Hello! I am a third-year student studying Secondary Education (majoring in English) at the University of Sydney, and I have a passion for helping young people achieve their learning goals. In the HSC I achieved a score of 94 in Advanced English and 96 in Extension 1 English and as such, I am prepared and excited to work with high school students of all years. English learning is not memory based- it requires you to develop the skills and confidence to approach unseen questions, which is particularly relevant within the HSC. This is achieved through a student's proper understanding of their selected text, of a wide range of literary techniques, of sound essay structure and of the requirements of the module in question. As your tutor, I will guide you through all of these processes with a hands-on approach to learning. With respect to every assignment, we will analyse the text together and create an authoritative and unique essay response that will be continuously edited and reworked for submission. I also include mock-exam style lessons in which I select stimuli and develop my own questions that are relevant for the module. Having ranked #2 in both Advanced English and Extension 1 English in high school, I also have many tips for exam preparation. The biggest fault when approaching the HSC and exams alike is the inability to adapt to the question guidelines on the day- to develop the skills to combat this, we will learn to distinguish what constitutes a Band 6 response and thoroughly tackle a range of questions together until the assessment date. I am a highly reliable tutor who adopts a flexible teaching style. I will always be available to answer any queries you may have no matter how trivial they may seem, even before the day of an exam.
