Hamish W.
Tutoring near Port Macquarie NSW

About

I am a 2021 graduate, and third year medical student at UNSW's Port Macquarie Rural Clinical school. My best HSC subjects were Mathematics Advanced (95), Mathematics Extension 1 (92), Chemistry (92) and Biology (91). I represented Australia at the International Biology Olympiad in 2020. I have 3 years of tutoring experience. My teaching style involves mostly concept based learning, with relevant examples and visual or schematic references. I like to use analogies and related techniques to simplify difficult or hard to remember concepts and terms. I want to help my students feel more comfortable in their learning, and to make it an enjoyable and satisfying experience that elevates their results.

Reviews

Character references

Hamish is one of the most organised and academic students I have had the pleasure of teaching. He loves to look for new ways to learn and enjoys sharing his knowledge. He has a great rapport with the students he has tutored, from primary to highschool ages. Hamish played an important role in our school leadership team and, as a senior, provided friendly and supportive mentorship to younger students. He is polite and and compassionate. Hamish has excelled across the board, in Maths, Sciences, History and Japanese. He has learnt to break down content and essay technique to achieve great results.
