About

Primary-school, Middle-school, VCE & University - Mathematics & Physics Tutor. University WAM & GPA: 84.15 / 4.00. ATAR: 98.60. Subjects: Primary to secondary core mathematics, units 1, 2, 3 & 4 mathematical methods, physics & specialist mathematics, first/second Year engineering mathematics/physics (and otherwise). Description: Hi. My name is Andrew and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering and Commerce (with honours) at Monash University. I am a full-time student with a weighted average mark of 84.15% across all my subjects. I graduated in 2019 from Melbourne Grammar School with an ATAR of 98.60. I can tutor younger students (from a primary school level) to build a strong mathematical foundation in preparation for middle school. Between years 7-10, I offer mathematics tutoring primarily focused on the core curriculum of the school, touching on more advanced concepts in preparation for VCE or IB. At a VCE level, I offer mathematical methods, specialist mathematics, and physics tutoring, for all units 1, 2, 3 and 4. At a university level I offer mathematics and physics tutoring, in the form of bridging courses or higher level engineering mathematics. Teaching Style: I am highly passionate about the subjects that I tutor and enjoy assisting students in breaking mental blockages that are common with mathematics-based subjects. Different students respond differently to different learning styles, and so I adopt different teaching techniques and resources (visual, reading, writing, auditory & kinesthetic) to promote proper foundations of understanding, so they can flourish academically. Tutoring Style: I primarily offer one-on-one tutoring, however, have tutored siblings/groups together in the past. English is my first and primary language, and I may be able to travel to you (depending on time and location). I normally teach via a whiteboard program on zoom, and send notes to your email via PDF upon lesson completion. WWCC: I hold a valid employee-tier Working With Children's Check (WWCC). I am happy to provide evidence upon request. I have references and other employees who can referee on my history working with young individuals.

Reviews

From our sons perspective: “Andrew is very clear, easy to talk to & has greatly improved my maths” We have found Andrew to be incredibly polite & very good at communication including feedback on Gus’ progress. We had been looking for a maths tutor for a while & hoped we would find our way to the right one for our son & we did! Alex

Andrew has been tutoring my 14 year old son this year in maths, and what a fantastic role model and teacher he has been! Andrew takes time to understand how Bowie is thinking through the problems and uses this to be able to relate to him and teach more effectively. This has helped Bowie learn techniques, strategies and shortcuts that he wouldn't have otherwise been taught. Being able to relate to Andrew has enabled Bowie to more efficiently commit the sessions to memory, develop his confidence and use this in an exam situation. Andrew is encouraging and supportive, non-judgemental and enthusiastic in his approach. Bowie's improvements in his maths is evidenced by his results. In Bowie's words 'Andrew’s a top-notch math tutor! He explains tricky problems in a way that makes it way easier to get. Super patient and cool – makes math class way less confusing. Highly recommend!' Thanks Andrew for all your help this year. We highly recommended Andrew and wish him much success in his future.
