About

Hi there! My name is Lilli, and I am an undergraduate Law student and I have over four years of experience tutoring and mentoring. My personal teaching philosophy is that students should be supported both in the course content but also emotionally, with my sessions being a space for students to be comfortable and relaxed about their schoolwork, all while providing them with guidance on exam strategy as well as the university applications process. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subjects: I am currently offering my specialised services in HSC English (Standard, Advanced and Extension) and History (Modern and Extension I). English and History are not only subjects I excelled at during high school, as I gained a high E4 in English Extension I, as well as high band 6 in Modern History, but they are also my passions, and I believe that shines through when I tutor my students, encouraging and motivating them to find their love, or at least some enjoyment, in the subject. I am also able to tutor Studies of Religion (1 unit and 2 unit), French (Beginners and Continuers), as well as Year 7-10 English, History, Commerce and French, if need be. Our sessions will be guided by which subjects you choose to receive support in, so please feel free to contact me about specifics if you would like. As with most humanities subjects, a lot of our time will be spent planning, writing and editing essays. Having written my fair share of essays during the HSC and at university, I am able to provide higher order, detailed feedback on content, style, structure, language expression as well as skills specific to timed essays during exams. In our sessions, I will be able to be able to provide you with a wealth of resources from my own time as a HSC Student. Together, we will also formulate study timetables, and assessment timeframes that will assist you in staying on top of your assessment tasks and study! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About me: I am currently studying a Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of International Relations at the Australian National University, maintaining a Distinction-average as well as working as a paralegal, Debating Adjudicator and a private tutor. I am also heavily involved in the Law Society, Debating Society, ANU Mooting and UN Youth Australia. During secondary school, I received the Year Scholar Award each year from Year 7 to Year 12, demonstrating my ability to achieve highly across a range of subjects and my commitment to education. I also excelled at high-school debating, mock trial, Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, basketball, touch football and athletics. I have over four years experience in tutoring. As a volunteer tutor for the younger students throughout high school, I was able to hone my mentoring abilities, building up student’s confidence in their studies as well as themselves. My interpersonal, people-centric nature, emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills have afforded me the ability to deeply connect with my students and mentor them through their schooling – a highly-regarded skill in tutoring. My strengths also lie in my ability to provide support to my students throughout the Year 11/12 process that isn’t specifically subject related. I hold in-depth knowledge on university applications, scholarship applications and early entry schemes, particularly for those who are interested in pursuing a law degree. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rates: - $70/hr
