About

Hi! I'm Woojin, a current medical student at the University of Newcastle (Joint Medical Program). I have more than 4 years of experience helping students in a wide range of subjects, from English and Public Speaking skills to IB Chemistry and Maths HL. I completed the IB Diploma (2020) at Newington College with a score of 42 (equivalent 99.2 ATAR). Furthermore, I did this while managing the responsibilities as a school captain, while also making sure to not compromise the activities I loved such as Debating, Cadets and Sport. | IB SUBJECTS – YEAR 11 / 12| Currently, I'm offering tutoring for Year 11/12 IB students for Chemistry HL (received a 7) and Mathematics AA/ AI (received a 7). I have more than 3 years of experience in teaching these difficult IB subjects and am more than happy to proof-read and comment on any IA's, as well as sharing the specific exam tips and tricks that helped me make my IB journey a little less daunting. As a recent IB graduate, I am up to date with any changes to the IB syllabus (such as the changes to the IB Chemistry syllabus for 2024) and am committed to helping you enjoy and thrive in these subjects as much as possible! Although I completed the IB, I have extensive experience tutoring HSC students as well. I've helped Newington students with subjects such as Mathematics Standard and Advanced, Chemistry and Economics, seeing that IB and the HSC had considerable overlap in their courses. | ENGLISH / DEBATING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING – YEARS 7 - 10| I am also available to help students improve their skills and confidence in public speaking and debating, which I believe are so essential not just for school, but for life. Throughout my experience teaching debating classes and debating competitively myself, I've always made sure that debating was as fun and engaging as possible! Finally, I'm more than happy to share some interview tips for getting into school leadership/ medicine positions. I know that these processes can be somewhat daunting and tedious, but hopefully I can share some first-hand tips that worked for me and the students that I've helped to get into competitive roles. | DETAILS | As I'm currently living in Newcastle, all my teaching is done online through Zoom or Google Meet. My rates are: - 70/h for IB/ HSC students - 60/h for Primary- Year 10 students - 40/h for group lessons (2-3 students)

Reviews

I had the incredible fortune of working with Woojin as an IB Chemistry tutor, which has transformed my chemistry experience. One of the most commendable aspects of Woojin's approach was his commitment to helping me understand my difficulties with the course. With a deep understanding of the IB Chemistry curriculum, he helped clarify intricate topics, making them accessible and digestible. As well as coaching me through past papers to consolidate what we learned. Woojin fostered my newfound confidence in tackling my upcoming IB exams. What sets Woojin apart is not only their subject matter expertise but also their genuine passion for teaching. Their enthusiasm for chemistry was infectious, creating an engaging learning environment that made each session enjoyable and productive. Woojin also has a good understanding of some of the IB's more ridiculous aspects and questions, being an alumnus of the course himself.

I highly recommend Woojin as a tutor. My son has been learning English from Woojin since mid 2021. My son has improved so much in English especially in writing that he got band 10 in English areas for year 7 Naplan. Its an amazing improvement for him because he just came to Australia in late 2018 with no English at all. My son also has been offered to transfer to one of the top selective schools, too. He now says English is an easy subject for him. He has so much confidence in English now. We owe it to Woojin. Woojin is very eager to help my son and knows exactly what my son needs. He is also very responsible and reliable. I just think anyone who needs help with their studies should hire him quickly before someone else does. He gives very useful tips. And that’s a real plus.
