- IB Biology Tutor - 99.95 ATAR - Masters student - Hi there! My name is Amelia, I'm currently studying a Master of Biomedical Science degree at the University of Melbourne. As part of my Masters I am undertaking a research project in a breast cancer lab at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. Last year I graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedicine during which I was a Chancellor's Scholar. I completed my International Baccalaureate diploma in 2019 with a perfect score of 45 points, equating to an ATAR of 99.95, and was the Dux of my high school, Kardinia International College, for that year. My subjects and scores are listed below. I specialise in tutoring IB Biology or other year 11 and 12 equivalent biology curriculums. The subjects I study at university are biology-specific, so I have an in-depth understanding of biological concepts beyond the level of detail covered in year 12, and I can tutor general science for lower year levels. I spent three months in France on an exchange program in, so I'm an experienced French speaker. I'm also confident in tutoring mathematics up to year 10 level. During high school, I spent time volunteering at 'homework club' on a weekly basis, a program where students from my high school would help refugee children from other schools in Geelong to complete their homework. This ranged from helping primary school children, who had limited understanding of English, to assisting high school students with their assignments. This program allowed me to develop and enhance my communication skills with younger students, even with a language barrier in place. My teaching style focuses on developing a student's confidence and passion for learning, and a holistic understanding of subject material. I can assist students with assessment tasks and classwork as well as content revision and general study techniques. I'm committed to developing a teaching style that is personalised to each student's needs.
