About

Hi, my name is Rory and I have had an interest and shown aptitude in Mathematics throughout high school and university, so I am well suited to tutoring in mathematical subjects from Year 7 up to Year 11 and 12 General Maths, Maths Methods and Specialist Maths. I have been tutoring for 2+ years and have helped 7+ students from a range of different backgrounds achieve their study goals. I also offer tutoring in first year university Maths courses if needed. I graduated High School in 2020 with an ATAR of 96.40, performing especially well in Mathematics and Physics subjects, for which I received scores of 95/100, putting me in the top 4% of Methods students in Queensland that year. I was also the recipient of my school's overall Academic Dux Award. I continued this aptitude for maths at university, where I studied a Bachelor of Mathematics for two years, before leaving to pursue further career opportunities. During my time at university, I averaged a GPA of over 6 (on a 7 point scale). While studying at UQ, I covered many topics, including some advanced third year courses. I bring a practical, down-to-earth, approachable style of teaching to my students, working with them to achieve their goals and improve their mathematical skills for the future. I have received many leadership awards and recognitions, so I believe I can confidently engage with younger students and develop positive relationships with them. I also believe that my recent graduation in 2020 leaves me ideally placed to provide advice to current high school students, as I am very familiar with the senior Math syllabus. I am happy to do home visits as long as they are within reasonable distance from my house at St Lucia. If sessions in another location or online are preferred, that is also fine with me.
