Tutoring near Carseldine, Brisbane, QLD & Brisbane City, Brisbane, QLD

Hi there!

My name is Sheng, and I'm a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce Graduate from the Australian National University. I have recently returned home to Brisbane and (with some time on my hands) I am free to impart my expertise to assist high school students with homework, assignments and exams.

I attended St Paul's on Brisbane's Northside through year 7 to 12. Along the way, I achieved numerous academic accolades. In my final year, I was ranked 3rd to Dux and received an OP3 (ATAR equivalent 97.00).

During my senior years, I loved studying business subjects, specifically: Accounting, Economics and Legal Studies. In my final year, I achieved high-end VHA's in those subjects. I was also good at English and Chinese. I am now excited to help students achieve results in these subjects.

Beyond subject-help, I can also assist with general essay writing and proof-reading. My law degree has taught me how to convey complex ideas clearly and succinctly. This is an important skill that can be applied in completing short-response questions and essays in subjects like English and Economics. The ability to write clearly will not only improve your high school marks but will also be a crucial skill to have for university and the workforce.

When it comes to tutoring, I would describe my approach as patient, communicative and 'student-driven'. In whatever I am teaching, I explain the concept, provide an example and then let the student complete the exercise while I shadow them. For example, when I explain a concept in Accounting, I explain the theory, complete an example exercise with the different accounts, and then, let you complete a different exercise under my supervision. I have found this to be an effective way of learning and I have used this method of teaching while training new hires in accounting and legal environments.

Furthermore, having completed a rigorous double-degree at a Group-of-Eight University, I know first-hand what is required to study effectively, and I will teach you how to do so. I will teach you how to:
- manage your time,
- prepare for exams with substantial weighting, and
- complete assignments that meet criteria.
These are crucial skills that will assist you through university.

If the above interests you and you would like me as your tutor, please do not hesitate to contact me through the message button.

I look forward to hearing from you!
