Hi, there/Hallo!

My name is Hannah Vanderzee, and I’m a fourth-year Environmental Management and Sustainability student at Deakin University.

I finished year 12 (VCE) in 2016 and received an ATAR of 84. One of the subjects I loved at school, aside from Outdoor and Environmental Studies, was German, and it was one that I excelled at. I received a study score of 41.

I went on a 3-week study tour in year 10, part of which was spent staying with my exchange student in Berlin after she and her fellow students came to Melbourne earlier the same year. I was blown away at how much of the language I learnt in the space of two weeks. Even more so the second time I visited and stayed for six, and again the third time around for another two.
By this point, I understand German perfectly, am almost fluent and get to reap the benefits of not having to concentrate on subtitles during movies and Netflix originals.

Learning a language at school isn’t easy, and it demands all of your attention. Listening, writing, and speaking skills are all their own ball games and getting on top of them, especially in your final year, can be daunting. If you’re looking for someone to help you figure out those weird grammar questions (why are there like, 50 versions of the word ‘you’??), prepare for a test or exam, or want someone to practice speaking with, hier bin ich, um dir zu helfen!

I’ve had previous teaching experience as a self-proclaimed expert homework helper during the babysitting days and as an actual expert ski instructor (a little left of field, but it’s teaching nonetheless, you need professional training and the whole shebang). Needless to say, I can help in just about any condition!
