My name is Annabel and I am a medical student from James Cook University. I graduated from high school in 2018 with an OP 1 (ATAR of 99.15). My subjects included English, English Extension, Mathematics B, Chemistry, Biology and Geography (Grade 12 level completed in Grade 11).
As a high school student, I was involved in multiple tutoring programs, helping younger students to improve literacy, as well as areas within science and mathematics. I understand that each student has a different learning style, and that it is important to identify this early on and tailor methods to suit this. I also hold a blue card.
Often, one on one tutoring can be intimidating - many students are worried about saying a wrong answer, or “embarrassing” themselves in from of their tutor. I try to make my students as comfortable as possible, encouraging them to answer and talk me through their thought process, regardless of whether it may be wrong or not. I believe that making mistakes and learning from them is one of the best ways to learn, and that being comfortable with the tutor is key to success.
Whether you are simply looking to pass a subject, or to achieve a VHA, I am here to help and support you to achieve your goals. I offer one on one sessions and phone help for English, Biology, and Geography (all levels) for Grades 7-12, as well as all science subjects up until Grade 10. I personally love English, so I offer drafting and feedback on assignments. I also am more than happy To provide advice on my experiences with the applications and interviews for JCU Medicine. Depending on the situation, I am also willing to discuss group and Skype tutoring sessions.

I strongly believe in creating an environment in which myself and my student can be comfortable. This can range from tutoring sessions in public/university libraries to in-home sessions.
