Hi my name is Angie! I graduated from Abbotsleigh in 2012 and have been tutoring for the past 7 years. I obtained a Band 6 in Advanced English and Extension 1 English (mark of 49/50). I predominantly tutor high school students in English (Standard & Advanced), Extension I and ESL.
I have a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts - Psychology and a Grad Dip in Legal Practice. I am also an admitted solicitor, with experience practising law. I have almost completed a Masters of Teaching (major in English) and have experience as a high school English teacher.
I am highly experienced and adept at tutoring English & passionate about education.
I am passionate about language and literature and focus heavily on teaching students how to interpret, analyse and understand texts. I also teach students how to write effectively and clearly, so that they are able to achieve top marks in English. Developing technical writing skills, formulating clear arguments and critical thinking is fundamental in English. Through developing these skills, I've helped many students achieve a Band 6 in English, and reach their full potential.
As part of tutoring students, I also help with exam prep, time management skills, how to study for certain assessments and how to improve organisational skills. I also implement weekly tasks and help students plan for homework and assessments. This keeps students on track with their work, provides support when needed and assists in minimising procrastination!
I offer one-on-one sessions as well as group classes for up to four students are a time.
